when you make cut lines (doors edges, etc), try to make them not so regular, sometimes reflection ("light line") is thick, but a little bit lower (or higher) it can almost disappear.

kidneys (or vents insted of them) look unfinished, maybe some highlights to show that hood is thicker than paper sheet would work, and some "things" ( ic, some engine parts ) in vents would make it more realistic.

try little less saturation in your next chop.

I prefer the bonus version with the nice and calm colours. I think the grille is too dark. It's obvious you use the blur tool a lot. Things look better when it's crisp, I actually use the sharpen tool more than the blur tool. If you look on the original image you can't see any white lines when it comes to door or hood lines. Delete them and make the black ones stronger and use the sharpen tool. That would make them look a lot better and would make the chop look less toony.
