Very nice idea, i like it! But the end resault is very low quality...First of all the colour The base image has prety good quality try saving it when changing the colour, and the carbon fiber should be darker I repeat I like the idea very much spend some more time on this and update it with better colour it will look 10 times better don't give up!

I don't now how colour could have got worse because I only desaturated it and then added a coloure balance level... Do you have suggestions on how I could improve it?

We can't see previews about the colour it's to light, the original color is by default light colour changing it into blue hmm well it stayed a bit to light for a blue colour..I don't know how to explain but it doesnt look quite right very difficult base to change colour in my opinion especialy because the back of the car is blured that make the whole thing of changing colour a lot harder Colour is too light and doesn't look real..try playing with brightness of the desaturated base to make it darker and than adding the colour layer maybe it will help
