even tough i can understand what Mark says, might i remember why the public vote was removed? to any fake and begged votes where happening
Public votes are best if they are unbiased, but there were/are too many votes for choppers instead of chops. Although it seems to have improved. I liked the concept of a mix, both public + judgepanel.

In my opinion there should be no public voting, or at least little of it. It's like Sam says, there will be votes for choppers, not for chops. This showed itself last year when stuff like crime scene chops and crashed cars were getting votes. At the expense of others.

Besides if you are so strictly going to enforce the National teams then it should come as no surprise if national pride takes over. We had the rule that you cant vote for your own country. But for example Eastern Europe is so tight it had no effect. I dread to compare it to the eurovision songfestival. But you just knew people were being handed points for diplomacy. And there is still no rule that compensates well enough for not being able to vote for your own country. Add to that we simultaneously deny the largest group of choppers the most votes.

On a sidenote I dont think we should enforce national teams this time. Especially with activity having dropped some countries are left with like one or two people who are viable candidates. And then they somehow need to get along as well.
Artist formerly known as "Dev"
Hugo, the judge panel voting was enforced the same time money came into the equation, We didn't want to risk bias voting or fake accounts registering to vote for chops based on who they were from not what the chop was. :S

But honestly, seeing nothing is really at risk this year, I was thinking of taking it back to the old days of public voting. This way we can get more people in the community involved. (Maybe to cater everyone we can make it a split 50% public voting and 50% judge panel?) How to compensate for not being able to vote for your own country is something I gotta figure out :hmm:

As someone pointed out earlier, it wont be World team battle if it wasn't teams formed form people in the same country. That's the fun of it! (But we will allow mixed country teams depending on the size and activity from certain countries. like we had in previous years)

Anonymous chops (no artist/country names on them until the voting is finished)? And no showing of WIPs, so none of the voters know which chop belongs to who?

Eurgh no showing of wips rule is most ridiculous rule ever made. There's nothing to stop people sharing wips on facebook, msn, skype etc, and even without wip threads, a lot more of this happens anyway. Saying no posting of chops or wips has always seemed like a silly rule to me.

Just let people vote as they will, completely free and open - it's a bit of fun for christ's sake, and would people honestly vote to keep competition from their own country in? Could work against them. We're probably reading into things too much, alliances and tactical voting aren't as widespread as we may think, and it's usually pretty obvious when it is

It has to be a country vs country battle. That's the whole point of it, also opening up teams to any inter-country combination means you'll get powerhouse teams of elite teaming up and that just wouldn't be fair to anybody. That would drive people away from entering because nobody would have a chance.

Public voting is best because it boosts activity. Most importantly, like I said before, it givecs the power back to the community to decide who the winners will be. What's better than that? It also prevents people questioning the judges decisions and all that backlash that goes on there, and in public voting you can also see if there is any bias votes pretty quickly and they'll get weeded out because all votes are public and are open to scrutiny of everyone. Also people can't vote unless you've made 50+ posts in Autemo anyway. This serves well to filter out fake accounts.

I still stand by saying take it back to how it was. It worked best back then and it was also the most fun it ever was.

yes Mark i agree entirely with what you said, my only issue here would be what hapened last year, the reason i quit wtb, cause i knew (told by the person) that more than half his votes where asked to other "Friends autemo members"

and, when stuff like this happens, and people notice, and ask why would you vote on that chop for first? (usually chops that are begginer standard over advanced chops) that person would just say..... its my opinion

Last year the WTB was much too fast! Round 4 in 2013 against 7 in 2012!

It is true that the completion time is a little short for some. They should know that is a big investment WTB sometimes difficult to organize in accordance with schedules teammates.

For the selection of the best bases to avoid squeezing only supercars. Some achievements have beautiful result but for the less experienced the timing was tight!

I hope that this year will be held in the WTB a good atmosphere :)!

Alright lads, thanks to all the feedback :D

I know Construct might not be too happy because it seems we are taking a step back, but I really just want to bring back the fun with this competition and draw people back in here.

So here's my conclusion from this thread:
-I'm hearing alot of shouts for 5-7 rounds with around 1 month deadlines which I very much agree on.

-For once Im happy to try to run WTB as a tournament instead of knockout rounds

-No money or advertisement, this is purely for the e-fame. XD

-No sketches or 3D will be allowed as an entry, because after all this is a chopping competition.

-I'll make it public voting due to the fact I want to make this competition by choppers and for choppers, meaning getting the whole community involved, But in the last 1-2 rounds I'm get a judge panel going to make sure the final winner is not from bias/ cheat voting.

-Like the other competitions, we'll ask for donors and reference used to see how much of the chop is copied or made from scratch, points for uniqueness and creativity and realism will be rewarded.

-Will also try to mix things up a little with half the comp being themed with specific tasks and themed chop to test peoples creativity and skills.

Im pretty much set on those terms, if anyone have an opinion and can persuade me, feel free to get involved, but thanks for all the comments and ideas so far, really appreciate it :)
