make a subcompetition for those who didn't make it? and they still have the monthly competitions as well then so :)

I think just having the monthly(ish) championship like now, but with two levels is the simplest and most fair way to do it. Maybe not 12 rounds a year though. And with different skill level bases, a lot like this years championship :P
And then have a few larger one round contests with cars that give Autemo attention, like the GT86
(I admit that the launch of the 86'er was a huugely hyped thing across the world that may not happen to often though)
Some men just want to watch the world doing burnouts... :P

It flashed in my mind in this moment - I thought it would be nice to have a Favourites space on each profile to show the favoured chops around the forum.
Rates: 1 stolen 4 very bad 6 acceptable 7 realistic + nice 8 very good 9 awesome 10 awesome + epic
I loved iCreate's ideas, but again the rounds can't take that much time, otherwise people will disperse from the competition and it will lose the attention needed to keep it up, if you know what I mean. About getting outsider judges, I couldn't agree more, Autemo needs publicity, and needs to get known by more and more people. What makes the site run smooth is getting new, and enthusiastic members, and that doesn't happen so often, at least I don't think so. How awesome would it be to have big car magazines all over the world on board?

Rather than specifically answering each question and repeating what's already been said in parts, I'll perhaps make some more general comments.

Facebook:
As mentioned on the previous page, seeing who gets the most "likes" has it's advantages and disadvantages. Those with more contacts and friends who are able to share it around will inevitably win. So perhaps have two categories, one showing who won the 'like battle' the other some sort of more regular voting, with the judges just picking their favourite.

Competitions:
I often find that I'm uninspired by a lot of bases, and when there tends to be only one competition running at any one time, it means a long wait for the next base to be released. To help counteract this, it may be wise to have a few more competitions running, to give a greater choice. I really like Construct's idea actually, but I can see its drawbacks.
Another possible solution would be more themed comps like (i think) hugo mentioned, giving a free choice of base. But I guess the issue here is the advantage that picking the right base gives - it makes it hard to directly compare chops. Perhaps then a series of bases could be provided for each competition. Say for instance a drift themed comp, then provide a series of bases (maybe 3 to 5) that people can choose to modify. So a silvia, perhaps a V8 muscle car, some european car like a BMW and then some other more modern alternatives (GT86) - that sorta thing.

General forum activity:
No one wants to post or comment on a dead forum. Fact. So the key here is to create a culture of commenting with useful c+c. It can be demoralising when your work gets no replies, and it certainly won't inspire you to offer criticism on other works. In other words, what I'm trying to say is we all need to pull together to make things more active. It may just start with a few of us, but once momentum is gathered, it should be a kind of snowball effect. We need to make it feel more like a community again, more of a family! Perhaps a rep bar like so many forums have would help, with the ability to vote a post up or down, rather than just the chop itself.

But hmm. We'll have to really think any changes through I guess

Others have said the same things as I have been thinking about, but these I would like to say.

competitions:

More competitions at the rear view. This year, all competitions have been from the front (if I remember correctly :hmm: ).

I definitely want to see more themed competitions!

IMO voting behavior could make some changes. All who have participated in the competition, will have to vote or to receive a penalty (minus 10-20%, or as determined for the best).

yep, gametrailers.com works with this system as well, when a comment gets enough bad ratings it even gets hidden with a comment like "This Comment has been burried by our members, click to reveal it"

and just to mention: looks like enough people really do care about autemo, looking at the responses you guys got!

About
My aim is to get members active and creative enough to back to their original community, as I noticed a certain inactivity and lack of effort from members.I will also be adding interest for Traditional artists in the hope they get more involvement.
Description
I will be holding regular themed contests and adding folders for members to show off the work they are proud of.People not in design are also welcome as I will put together links of tutorial sites for you to learn and join in.

My overall goal is to bring back creativity and effort to those places that have died off and lost thier prime audience, all forms of help from sites, fans and enthusiasts is greatly appreiciated.

If the founders are interested in this please PM me here on Autemo and i will link you to the facebook page i have set up for this campaign.I will also make an album for all the affliatted sites who help this cause to promote the site :D

Thanks Vinny.
Thanks Vinny. That's an interesting concept.

Regarding a rep system, I like the idea and I think it would be pretty simple to implement. Something I suggested a while back was changing the "like" button to a "helpful" button in the chop forums (it can stay as a like button in other places like Gen. Chat). A simple "helpful" tally/rank could give incentive for people to provide better feedback. This tally/rank could be visible where "Global Rank" currently is.

In terms of a currency I'm thinking the following:
- Tutorials: 5 Helpful votes per person who "Favourites" tutorial thread
- WIP comments receive double helpful points (1 vote as "helpful" = 2 points to helpful tally)
- New chopper comments receive triple helpful points
- Intermediate chopper comments receive double helpful points
- Pro+ receive single helpful points

I will speak to Mark about this. Maybe we can get that up pretty soon.
