simple, subtle mods as pointed out and yes we all start somewhere and youre taking the best route by starting off slow. One of the main mistakes new choppers make is jumping straight in at the deep end and attempting full brushes after 2 or 3 chops. Wait until you've mastered one thing before moving onto the next and take small steps
